This story begins deep in the ocean amidst a submarine battle during WWIII. As the opposing forces fire torpedoes at each other, they have no idea that an ancient sea monster observes the fight not far from their location.

The Kracken stands guard over his family, who had just given birth to offspring as happens only once a millennia. He grows restless as the battle draws near, ever protective of his family, especially the newborns.

For a while the torpedoes stray from the sea monsters, until one misses its target and explodes dangerously close. With a nod to it's partner, the Kracken patriarch begins its ascent through the dark ocean, intent on putting an end to the battle for the sake of his children.
